Current legislation requires that all lifting equipment must be thoroughly examined at least once every 12 month period by a competent person. The requirements of the testing and the competence of the examiner are defined under the latest Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations (LOLER). In addition - BS7121 Parts 2 and 4 recommend a 25% overload test be carried out:

All lorry loaders installed by Central Crane Technicians are tested to 125% of maximum load using our calibrated test weights.
We adhere to the LOLER / ALLMI guidelines on lorry loaders by offering a documented 12 Month Inspection and 4 yearly load test system. We recommend this is done in conjunction with a regular 6 monthly service to minimise time off road and to ensure reliable future operation.
